Team Tuesday: Meet our Investor Relations Director, Gerry O’Callaghan

Where did you begin your career?

I started at PwC before moving into investment banking - structuring deals, managing client relationships, and executing transactions.

What is the best career advice you’ve ever been given?

To listen more than you talk. Understanding the other side’s objectives is key to structuring a successful outcome.

What tips would you give to someone starting in your profession?

Building a financial model is important. It helps you understand the capital structure, risks, returns, and sensitivities. Once you have that foundation, consider the second and third-order effects and debate them.

What is your greatest professional achievement to date?

Earlier in my career, it was closing challenging deals with the team, such as a complex credit facility or resolving a distressed situation involving multiple stakeholders. Now, it’s about gaining and maintaining the trust of investors through open dialogue and consistent follow-through.

Tell us something people may not know about you

I grew up on a farm in the North West of Ireland, working with horses and cattle, harvesting crops, etc. It taught me the value of patience and perspective.
